The last time I visited RLC in June 2002, it seemed still relatively unspoiled and not TOO touristy, not like, say, Carcassonne, for example. I hope it stays that way.
It seems to me that in the last 10 years or so the Tourist Department (or whoever) in that part of France has been trying to capitalize on the Cathars and anything else they can get their hands on. An example is the rather thin legend of "Lady Carcas" that you see referred to everywhere in Carcassonne. I hope this doesn't extend to RLC and the nearby area. The area around RLC and RLB is still relatively unknown by international tourists. I hope it doesn't get overrun by the hordes.
Leave the Abbe where he is!
