I know I only deliver fragments, not a cold hard case. It is up to the viewer to discover. Everybody follows their own paths to discovery and even the discoveries vary per individual. This makes this enigma so special...!

I find it interesting that painters like Poussin always painted the Holy Family with Zachary, Elizabeth, Mary, John and Jesus. You never see Joseph. Also, in the statue of John and Jesus in the church of RLC, Saunière has left 2 hints to support this theory.

There is one other painting in a church in Italy, 14th century, which tells the story of Elizabeth actually giving Mary to Zacharias, because Elizabeth could not give him an heir. The painter obviously thought the same as I. Or, he just knew...

Joseph is present at the birth of Jesus and then he passed to the trap door.
