Has anyone any idea of a certain book on alchemy with the formula to make gold, found by Sauniere and given to his housekeeper who couldn't do anything with it but did mention it to her friends/family saying, 'one day I will give you something that will make you rich'...??? I stumbled over this interesting idea when surfing through files on the internet.

You are mixing everything. You do not know what you are talking about and you are building theories based upon your own fantasm. The "one day I will tell something that will make you rich" supposedly comes from the servant of Sauniere, Marie Denarnaud, to Noel Corbu, the new owner of the house of Sauniere. There is no evidence of it, and it seems that she might just have played with the greedy personnality of that man. Anyway, she died without revealing anything. And if it was that important, she would have done it since she was ready to do so... think about it.
