I recently watched a TV documentary which set about investigating whether the 'Issa' from Palestine who supposedly visited Ladakh and other areas of the Himalayas, was in fact Jesus of Nazareth, and whether it was from the Buddhist Lamas that he learned his message of peace, patience and tolerance, and much of the spirituality that he thought.
I have to say, though the presenter did uncover some evidence, it was scant and inconclusive. Still, the whole concept was interesting, but further investigation leads to numerous researches both 'proving' and 'disproving' the theory.
It would be a bit of a poke in the eye for the Christian churches if Jesus turned out to be a Buddhist...
